What is FUPRE Post UTME Screening Like?

Once you score 150 and above, you are eligible to participate in the Post UTME Screening. Post UTME is a part of the admission process. It’s a way to assess candidates for university level education.

Post UTME is different from UTME because it tests specific knowledge of the course of study. You must do well in this screening test as the scores will be used to offer admission.

Be updated on Post UTME registration and exam schedule. FUPRE will always provide information on how and when to register for Post UTME. Most importantly, start preparing early. Review past Post UTME questions and understand the format of the test to increase your chances.

How to Calculate FUPRE Aggregate Score for Admission

After Post UTME exam is done, next is to calculate your total score. FUPRE uses a combination of your UTME score and Post UTME score to get the overall result.

Here’s how to calculate your aggregate score at FUPRE:

  1. Divide your UTME score by 8.
  2. Add your Post UTME score to the result.

For example, if your UTME score is 250 and your Post UTME score is 40:

  • 250 ÷ 8 = 31.25
  • 31.25 + 40 = 71.25

Your total score is 71.25. This will be used for admission.

Courses & Minimum Aggregate Scores

Overall cut off mark for all courses is 150 but some courses are more competitive than others. For example Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering get more applications so their cut off is tougher.

FUPRE has not published the cut off marks for each course yet but it’s safe to assume that engineering courses require higher aggregate scores than other courses. For the most competitive courses candidates may need 60 and above to be considered.

For other courses like Science Laboratory Technology, Mathematics or Statistics, candidates with 50 and above may have better chance of being admitted.

Conclusion

In summary if you scored 150 and above in UTME you have passed the first major test to get admitted into FUPRE. The next is to prepare for the Post UTME Screening which is a major factor in the final admission.

FUPRE offers a lot of courses focusing on oil, gas and energy industries. Whatever course you choose you will be prepared for a career in one of the most important sector of Nigeria’s economy.
