About the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK)

UNIZIK is a federal university in Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria. It was founded in 1991 in honour of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Nigeria’s first President.

The main campus is in Awka, with campuses in Nnewi and Agulu. The Awka campus has the central library named after Professor Festus Aghagbo Nwako where students and staff can access resources and internet. In 2020, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Charles Esimone increased the internet bandwidth to cover all campuses.

UNIZIK has a structured academic calendar. In October, old and new students return to campus, pay fees and register for courses.

Lectures start immediately and registration for old students ends shortly after. November is a busy month with orientation for new students, university wide quiz and student union election.

The first semester ends with exams in February and a short break in March. Second semester starts in March, has Easter break in April and ends with exams in July.
