Courses Offered in UNICROSS – Are you curious about the courses at the University of Cross River State? Relax, you are on the right page. We have also provided all you need to know before you apply!
Getting admitted into the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) is straightforward, but there are important steps you need to follow. First, you must have at least five credits in your O’Level results (WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB), including English Language and Mathematics.
These credits should be in subjects relevant to the course you want to study and must be obtained in not more than two sittings. Once you meet this requirement, the next step is to register and sit for the JAMB UTME, where you need to score at least the cutoff mark set by UNICROSS for your chosen course.
After passing JAMB, the university requires you to take part in their post-UTME screening. This usually includes an online application, where you upload your results and personal details, and sometimes a written test or physical verification.
Your total score from JAMB and the post-UTME screening will determine whether you get admitted. Some competitive courses like Engineering and Medical-related programs may require higher scores, so performing well in JAMB and the post-UTME is important.
For Direct Entry candidates, UNICROSS accepts qualifications such as ND, NCE, IJMB, or a recognized diploma. You must apply through JAMB Direct Entry and submit relevant documents to the university.
Before you buy the JAMB Form ensure you know the courses offered in your school, the school Cut Off Mark, and the JAMB subject combination. This is very important for admission.

About the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS)
University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has a rich history that buttresses its commitment to learning and growth. It started in 2002 when Governor Donald Duke merged three institutions: The Polytechnic of Calabar, College of Education and Ibrahim Babangida College of Agriculture to form Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH). This was to consolidate resources and provide a platform for higher education in Cross River State.
In February 2021, a major transformation occurred. Governor Ben Ayade signed a bill passed by Cross River State House of Assembly to rename CRUTECH to University of Cross River State (UNICROSS). This was more than just a new name; it opened up the university to more professional programmes beyond technology.
By July 2023, UNICROSS had further broadened its scope. National Universities Commission (NUC) approved the introduction of seventeen new programmes including Broadcasting, Software Engineering and Economics. This was following a resource verification visit in April 2023 which showed that the university is meeting educational standards.
Leadership changes have also played a big role in shaping UNICROSS. In January 2025, Governor Bassey Otu appointed Professor Francisca Bassey as Acting Vice Chancellor and Dr. Fidelis Ugbo as Pro-Chancellor. This was to stabilize the university administration and boost academic excellence.
UNICROSS operates in four campuses: Calabar, Obubra, Ogoja and Okuku with a wide range of programmes. The university journey from the beginning to now shows its growth and commitment to quality education.

Go the extra mile and confirm any special requirements from the school—missing details can delay your admission. Beyond academics build a solid study routine, practice past questions, and stay ahead. Admission slots are limited so every effort counts. Do the needful and you will be admitted.
