Courses Offered in LASPOTECH – Want to know more about the Lagos State Polytechnic before applying? This article has the full list of courses, requirements, and how to get started for a successful admission!
Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) provides scholarship opportunities for students in certain programs. Scholarships are available through government initiatives, private organizations, and the polytechnic itself.
Some are specifically for students in Engineering, Science, and Technology courses, while others support those with outstanding academic performance or financial need. Eligible students must meet the scholarship criteria and apply within the specified period.
The student-to-lecturer ratio varies across different courses at LASPOTECH. Programs with high enrollment, such as Business Administration and Mass Communication, may have larger class sizes, while specialized courses in Engineering and Technology tend to have smaller classes for practical learning.
The institution works to maintain a balanced ratio so students can receive quality education and personalized attention.
LASPOTECH does not offer double major programs like universities, but students can enroll in diploma courses that combine multiple skill areas.
Some programs integrate subjects from different fields, allowing you to gain knowledge in more than one discipline. If you want to broaden your expertise, you can take additional certificate courses alongside your main program.
To gain admission into LASPOTECH, you must meet the required criteria. For National Diploma (ND) programs, you need at least five O’Level credits, including Mathematics and English, in relevant subjects.
You must also take the UTME and meet the polytechnic’s cut-off mark. Higher National Diploma (HND) applicants must have an ND certificate in a related field and at least one year of industrial experience.
Before you buy the JAMB Form ensure you know the courses offered in your school, the school Cut Off Mark, and the JAMB subject combination. This is very important for admission.

About the Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH)
The educational institution established in 1977 as LASPOTECH evolved into LASUST by carrying forward its dedication to deliver high-quality learning opportunities throughout Nigeria.
In 1977 the institution started as the Lagos State College of Science and Technology (LACOSTECH) through the application of Lagos State Edict No. 1 of 1978 which had an initial implementation date of June 1, 1977.
The college began its academic journey in January 1978 at its Isolo temporary location where it accepted 287 founder students who were enrolled in Accountancy and Finance and Insurance and Secretarial Studies and Management and Business Studies departments.
On August 1, 1978 the Lagos State Government fused the School of Agriculture Ikorodu into the college and established the ongoing Ikorodu campus.
The institution used this expansion to implement development of academic programs and infrastructure growth. The organization transformed into Lagos State Polytechnic in 1986 to represent its expanded areas of focus and operational objectives.
During its existence LASPOTECH has reached multiple important educational marks. The polytechnic created more than 120,000 graduates who entered different sectors of the national economy between 2018.

On February 8, 2022, National Universities Commission awarded formal approval to transform the institution into Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUST).
