About the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB)

FUNAAB is an University in Nigeria where you can study farming, science and technology. It was founded by the Nigerian Government on 1st January 1988.

It was established to train students in agriculture and improve farming methods in the country. Before FUNAAB, there was another school called Federal University of Technology, Abeokuta (FUTAB) which was founded in 1983. In 1984 FUTAB merged with University of Lagos and became College of Science and Technology, Abeokuta (COSTAB) and later in 1988 the Government separated it again to form FUNAAB.

The first Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB was Professor Nurudeen Olorun-Nimbe Adedipe. He started on 28th January 1988. Initially the date was thought to be when the University started but the actual date is 1st January 1988. When FUNAAB first opened it was located in Isale-Igbein, Abeokuta. In 1997 the University moved to a bigger campus along Alabata Road where it is currently located. This new location enabled the University to grow and offer more courses.

FUNAAB offers programmes in areas like animal science, crop production, engineering and management. The University is known for promoting research and practical learning. Over the years it has grown to become one of the best agricultural University in Nigeria. FUNAAB is still teaching students how to improve farming, create new ideas and help the community.
