COOU

Courses Offered in COOU – Are you looking for the complete list of degree programs offered at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, with their admission requirements and other important application details? We have you covered in this article.

If you want to get into Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), there are a few things you need to know. First, you must have at least five credit passes in your O’level results (like WAEC, NECO, or GCE), including English and Math. These must be in no more than two sittings.

Also, you need to be at least 16 years old before you can apply. Once you have your O’level results, the next step is to register for JAMB and aim for a score of at least 170. Some courses may require a higher score, so it’s good to check the specific requirements for your chosen course. After JAMB, you’ll need to take COOU’s Post-UTME screening, which could be a test or an interview.

If you’re applying through Direct Entry, the process is a little different. You still need five O’level credits, but you also need extra qualifications like an ‘A’ level certificate, a National Diploma (ND), a Higher National Diploma (HND), or an NCE certificate.

Whatever qualification you have, it should be related to the course you want to study. You’ll also need to buy and fill out the JAMB Direct Entry form and select COOU as your preferred school.

Before you buy the JAMB Form ensure you know the courses offered in your school, the school Cut Off Mark, and the JAMB subject combination. This is very important for admission.

About the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU)

Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) is a state university in Anambra State, Nigeria. It was founded in 2000 by Anambra State Law No. 13. Initially it was Anambra State University of Science and Technology with two campuses, the main one at Uli and the other at Igbariam. Uli campus was previously Ekwenugo Okeke Polytechnic and Igbariam campus was College of Agriculture.

On January 26, 2006 Anambra State University Amendment Law No. ANHA/LAW/2006/01 was passed renaming it Anambra State University (ANSU). This law also proposed a third campus at Alor but it was never developed. A big change happened on September 11, 2014 when the university was renamed Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University in honor of the late Biafran leader and statesman.

COOU offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs across several faculties; Law, Medicine, Engineering and Social Sciences. On March 9, 2024 the university got full accreditation for 20 programs including Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration. Boosting its academic reputation.

The university has had several leadership changes. Prof. Gregory Nwakoby was Vice-Chancellor from 2018 till December 5, 2023 when Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha took over as acting Vice-Chancellor. By February 22, 2025 COOU marked its 25th anniversary celebrating 25 years of academic excellence and community service.

With its commitment to quality education, research and innovation COOU continues to shape the future of students in Nigeria and beyond.
