About the Adamawa State Polytechnic (ADAMAWA-POLY)
Adamawa State Polytechnic (ADAMAWA-POLY) is a school in Yola, Adamawa State, Nigeria. It started in 1991 when two schools, the College of Preliminary Studies and the Staff Development Institute, merged. This school teaches you many things like Computer Science, Business and Accounting. You can get National Diploma (ND) or Higher National Diploma (HND) after graduating from here. It also partners with University of Maiduguri to offer degree programs.
In 2007, the school had 200 workers. These workers didn’t get paid for two years so they went to court. In 2009, the court ordered the school to treat the workers fairly. At that time, only three out of 33 courses were approved. The government gave N20.1m to improve the school by fixing the library, helping workers with houses and making the campus safer.
In March 2021, after exams, some students destroyed the school. The school closed from March 25 to April 26, 2021. Students had to pay for the damage before they could go back to class.
A big one happened in August 2022 when the school admitted its first degree students in partnership with University of Maiduguri.
The school has three campuses – one in Jimeta-Yola, another in Jambutu and one in Numan. Adamawa State Polytechnic is growing and empowering many to acquire new skills and prepare for the future.
