About the Federal Polytechnic Offa (OFFA-POLY)
In 1992 the Federal Polytechnic Offa established its operations in Offa, Kwara State, Nigeria when then military leader Ibrahim Babangida made his presidential declaration during his 1991 meeting at the Olofa’s palace.
From February 1992 until 2000 the institution operated under the leadership of its first Rector Engr. (Mrs.) Taiwo Adeife Osemeikhian. The institution moved on under Dr. Razaq Bello as Rector from 2000 to 2006 before Dr. Mufutau Olatinwo took office in 2006 as Acting Rector until becoming the third substantive Rector in 2008.
Chief Okey Ezenwa now serves as the chairperson of the Governing Council that oversees the institution as its fourth iteration after 2000 and 2005 and 2009.
The polytechnic delivers National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) qualifications through different study fields. Students at the institution return for the first semester in 2025 on January 6th while lectures begin on January 20th leading up to mid-semester break February 7th to 21st before lectures finish on April 25th. The examination period spans from April 28th to May 16th after which the second semester starts on May 19th.
The main campus of the polytechnic rests 6.5 kilometers from Offa town center along the Offa–Ojoku Road where students find an optimal learning space. The institution trains competent IPs through technical training so they can advance sustainable national development.
The city of Offa houses about 90,000 citizens whereas its population maintains a rich traditional background where residents participate annually in the cultural Ijakadi Festival to enjoy wrestling and strengthen social connections.
