About the Federal Polytechnic Mubi (MUBI-POLY)
Federal Polytechnic Mubi is located in Mubi, Adamawa State, Nigeria and was established on July 25, 1979 as one of the seven federal polytechnics created to provide technical education. Initially named Federal Polytechnic, Yola, it started operating in August 1979 on the north bank of the Benue River.
In October 1982, following a presidential directive, the institution moved to Mubi and took over the facilities of the defunct Federal School of Arts and Sciences.
Upon moving to Mubi, the polytechnic inherited existing structures which were renovated to meet educational needs. New facilities such as science and engineering laboratories, workshops and lecture theatres were also built.
The institution started with Preliminary Studies in Sciences and Management leading to National Diploma in ten departments such as Agricultural Technology, Civil Engineering and Business Administration. By 2009/2010 academic session, the polytechnic had 36 accredited programs with over 14,000 students.
The polytechnic has faced challenges, one of which was a tragic attack on October 1-2, 2012 when armed men attacked a student hostel and killed at least 25 people.
Despite the challenges, the institution is still growing and providing quality education.
For prospective students, the polytechnic offers National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programs across many disciplines. Admission is usually in line with the academic calendar, applications usually start few months to a new session.
