About the Kogi State Polytechnic (KOGI-POLY)
Kogi State Polytechnic, located in Lokoja, Kogi State, Nigeria was established in December 1992 by the first Executive Governor of the state, Prince Abubakar Audu. The institution started academic activities in January 1993 at Government Science Secondary School Lokoja and Osara Campus with Dr. Isa I.A as the first Rector.
In October 2005, during the first convocation ceremony covering 1992/93 to 2003/2004 academic sessions, Governor Ibrahim Idris approved the release of N80 million to the polytechnic for its contribution to education in the state.
Ten years later, in January 2016, the institution was renamed Abubakar Audu Polytechnic, Lokoja in honour of its founder, Prince Abubakar Audu for his monumental contribution to the state development.
Under the leadership of Dr. Usman Ogbo who succeeded Dr. Isa as Rector, the polytechnic has witnessed massive infrastructure development which has improved the physical environment and academic atmosphere.
December 2024, National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) gave full institutional accreditation to Kogi State Polytechnic, approved 18 programmes for 2024/2025 academic session. Eight new programmes were added, showing the institution is expanding its programmes.
Today Kogi State Polytechnic is still fulfilling its mission of producing skilled and competent manpower for commerce and industry, with standard facilities and efficient staff for the benefit of humanity.
