Whether you want to study Law, Political Science or a postgraduate course, understanding the admission process will help you prepare better.

For undergraduate admission, FUOTUOKE requires you to have at least five O’level credits including English Language and Mathematics. These must be in not more than two sittings.

If you’re going for Law, you’ll also need a credit in Literature-in-English. Your UTME score plays a big role so make sure you meet or beat the JAMB cut-off mark for your course. After that FUOTUOKE will conduct a post-UTME screening and your score will determine your final admission chances.

If you’re interested in Political Science, yes FUOTUOKE offers it! The requirements are the same as other social science courses. You need five O’level credits including English Language, Government and Mathematics.

Your JAMB subject combination should also include Government or History alongside other relevant subjects. A good UTME and post-UTME performance will increase your chances of getting admitted.

For the postgraduate program, FUOTUOKE has options in different fields. To be qualified you need a relevant first degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower (2:2).

About the Federal University, Otuoke (FUOTUOKE)

Federal University Otuoke (FUOTUOKE) is a state university located in Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Nigeria. It was established in February 2011 by the Federal Government of Nigeria to bridge the gap of universities in some regions. The university admitted its first set of 282 students in 2012.

In 2012, FUOTUOKE started with two faculties: Science and Humanities and Social Sciences. The first matriculation ceremony was held same year and we admitted students into programmes like English and Communication Studies, History and International Relations, Accounting and Finance, Economics and Development Studies, Sociology and Strategic Studies, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Chemistry, Mathematics with Statistics, Computer Science and Informatics, and Physics with Electronics/Power.

By 2014, the university grew by adding two more faculties: Engineering/Technology and Business Management Sciences. This was to add more programmes to the students. On September 21, 2019, we held our first convocation and graduated students of 2012, 2013 and 2014 classes.

As of 2021, we have six faculties: Science, Management Science, Social Science and Humanities, Education, Engineering and Technology.

These faculties offer both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. In November 2020, Prof. Teddy Charles Adias was ordained as Vice-Chancellor of the university.

FUOTUOKE is situated about 21km south of Yenagoa, the state capital, on a land mass of 200 hectares. The school are committed to providing a conducive learning environment with well equipped classrooms, laboratories and e-library. They also aim to excel academically and contribute positively to the community and the nation at large.
