About the Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku (DSPG)
Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku (DSPG) was established on the 12th of November 2002 to provide qualitative education in all fields.
The polytechnic officially opened on the 23rd of January 2003 under the leadership of the then Governor James Onanefe Ibori. Initially DSPG had about 200 students in three departments: Accountancy, Mechanical Engineering and Fashion & Clothing Technology.
The first classes were held at the former Delta Preparatory Primary School on Isah Road. In 2004 the institution moved to a new site along Ogwashi-Uku/Azagba Road which is now referred to as Campus B. By 2007 the main campus became operational with the Rectory, Registry and major departments.
The first Rector Dr. J.E.O. Ovri served from November 2002 to November 2006. He was succeeded by Professor A.O. Egwunyenga who served from August 2007 to August 2011.
During his tenure DSPG expanded its academic programmes and infrastructure. Dr. (Mrs.) E.N. Mogekwu took over in March 2012 and focused on development and accreditation of new programmes.
In 2017 Professor (Mrs.) Stella Chiemeke became the Rector and brought her expertise in Computer Science to the institution. As of July 2021 Professor Emmanuel Achuenu is the current Rector and continues the mission of academic excellence.
DSPG offers National Diplomas and Higher National Diplomas in various schools which includes Art and Design, Business, Engineering and Applied Sciences today. The polytechnic is committed to providing qualitative education and development in Delta State and beyond.
