If you don’t meet certain laid-down admission requirements you won’t get admission at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU). You must have at least five O’Level credits including English and Mathematics from WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB. The result must be in two sittings.

About the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU)
The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University is a federal university of technology in Bauchi city within North East Nigeria.
The institution started its operations as Federal University of Technology Bauchi during 1980 before receiving its current name Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University to honor the first Nigerian Prime Minister Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa.
The university’s formal statement reads Doctrina Mater Artium which means Education is the mother of practical arts.
ATBU welcomed its inaugural group of pre-degree and remedial students in October 1981 as its first student enrollment. School of Science and Science Education initiated its degree programs at the start of October 1982.
The integration of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria with the university resulted in the formation of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa College which operated its facilities in Bauchi on October 1, 1984.
The temporary merge between the institution and Ahmadu Bello University solidified before ATBU obtained independence alongside its original name in 1988.
The university adopted its academic structure during 1980 once experts from Nigeria together with colleagues from UK and USA provided their input. A curriculum emerged that focused on practical programs because ATBU maintains a technological direction.
The current academic structure of ATBU consists of seven faculties encompassing Engineering, Science, Environmental Technology, Agriculture, Management Technology, Technology Education together with College of Medical Sciences.
The university runs bachelor-degree through doctoral degree educational programs. Each university faculty has a dean serving as their leader under the vice-chancellor’s oversight as ATBU’s chief executive and academic head.
The mission of ATBU has always involved delivering excellent education and technical progress in Nigeria since its establishment.
