About the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti (ADO POLY)

Ado Poly is a well known institution in Nigeria. It was founded in January 1977 as College of Technology in Jos, Plateau State with 350 ND students and 95 academic staff.

Later that year it was moved to Akure, Ondo State as part of the Federal Government’s plan to distribute educational resources across the country. In July 1979, by Decree No. 33 the college was upgraded to a full-fledged polytechnic. By 1982 the polytechnic was moved to its permanent site in Ado-Ekiti to make way for the establishment of Federal University of Technology in Akure.

This was completed in 1986. Over the years Ado Poly has grown. From its humble beginning it now have over 10,000 students full-time and part-time, across ND and HND program. The staff strength is also over 2,000 comprising teaching, non-teaching, technical and junior cadre staff.

The polytechnic is organized into five schools with 29 departments that offer various programs. The schools are Business Studies, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Science and Computer Studies and the recently established School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology. Each school is designed to provide quality education and practical skills to prepare students for their respective industries.
