THE Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has appointed Haruna Aliyu as its 7th substantive Registrar, marking a new chapter in its history.
The appointment, made by the 15th Governing Council on August 22, 2024, follows the demise of Malam Jamilu Salim, who passed away on April 26, 2023. Haruna Aliyu, a seasoned administrator, brings a wealth of experience to the role.
His impressive tenure as Registrar at Skyline University, Kano, from April 2021 to May 2023, saw him lead the institution to notable achievements.
These include successfully accrediting 11 programs, ranking 16th out of 113 Nigerian universities, and 8th among private universities in the 2021 Nigerian Universities Ranking.
Aliyu’s accomplishments extend to curriculum review, admission process enhancement, and leading the university team for resource verification exercises.
His dedication earned him the prestigious 2023 Skyline University’s Man of the Year title.
Before his appointment, Aliyu served as Deputy Registrar in the Vice Chancellor’s Office.
He takes over from Hajiya Amina Umar Abdullahi, who held the position in an acting capacity since May 5, 2023.
The Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, presented the appointment letter to Aliyu, congratulating him on his well-deserved appointment.
Gawuna charged Aliyu to display professionalism and administrative excellence in his new role.
