About Ontario Graduate Scholarship Program in Canada
The Ontario Graduate Scholarships are open to graduate students in Ontario, Canada. The Ontario Graduate Scholarships are worth 5,000 CAD per semester. All exceptionally talented students pursuing master’s and doctoral degrees in Canada are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Scholarships from OGS are awarded for two years of master’s study and three years of doctoral study. Universities that offer two terms a year award scholarships worth 10,000 CAD, while those that offer three terms award scholarships for 15 000 CAD.

Eligibility for Ontario Graduate Scholarships
- Master’s students are eligible for the scholarship for a max of 2 years. Doctoral students may be eligible for 4 years.
- Government funded scholarships are only available to students for a max of 6 years in their lifetime.
- 2 government funded scholarships cannot be awarded to the same student at the same time.
- be enrolled or plan to enroll full-time in a qualified program in 2022-2024.
- have not paid for their current level of education with all of their lifetime OGS/QEII or government funds.
- have completed 2 or more years of graduate school, the candidate need only show they have an overall GPA of A- in all their graduate courses or they must have a minimum GPA of A- in each of their last 2 years of full-time study (full-time equivalent).
Citizenship
The Ontario Graduate Scholarships are open to both domestic and international students. According to the guidelines, the candidate must be:

- an international student with a current study permit in Canada attending an institution in Ontario.
Academic Requirements
The following academic requirements must be met by the applicant to be considered for the Ontario Graduate Scholarship:
- You must earn an A-average (80% in Ontario) for both of your full-time study years.
- International applicants must be proficient in English at the time of application.
- Since the university requires 40% or more for students with disabilities, the candidate must be enrolled full-time in a graduate program which means 60% or more of a full course load.
Application for Ontario Graduate Scholarships
Every master’s program at a Canadian university has its own timeline and procedures as the OGS adjudication happens at the program level. Students must however include the following documents with their scholarship application:

- not work more than 10 hours/week throughout the academic year.
- Verify that WebAdvisor has your Social Insurance Number (SIN) recorded; the award cannot be processed without it. This does not apply to international students.
- decline offers of paid positions that would conflict with your full-time graduate studies, such as research assistantships or part-time teaching positions.
