Filing Your Art School Application

You have made the choice to attend a school in art, design, or fashion, and your dreams are at your fingertips!  After perusing our site and finding some art programs that suit your needs, it's time to start thinking about applying to those schools-taking that first step towards becoming a professional.

Application Fees & Admission Deadlines

The best way to find out specifics regarding application procedures, deadlines, and fees is to request information from each of the schools that you are interested in attending.  If you haven't already done this then you can use the search feature in the upper right hand corner of this page.  The service is absolutely free for our users and a great way to get all the admission details for each school.  Alternatively, you can visit the admissions page of each particular school's website.  This can be a bit more time consuming, but equally as effective.  If you're looking for more general application information, not specific to any particular school, then you should check out our application guide and let SchoolPursuit.com help guide you through the application  process.

Special Application Requirements for Art / Design / Fashion Schools

As you know, the art world demands creativity that results in visual or auditory pieces of work.  Because artists are evaluated in large part on their creative potential, it may be necessary to submit a portfolio to schools as part of the application process.  Portfolios range from examples of photographs, drawings, designs, or sketches, to auditions or writing samples.  A portfolio may be required for admission or for scholarship consideration.  Even if your favorite schools do not require portfolios, it is important for you to start collecting items you would want to display during school (to land internships) and as an aspiring professional (to get that first job!).  See our list of helpful portfolio tips for more detailed information about building a portfolio that can really show off your talent.

Remember, assemble the necessary paperwork, organize details, and start the application process early!
